The Family Social Support project in the 2023 management sought to support families in extreme poverty and high social risk, providing social assistance, psychological support, training those responsible for families in coordination with defense centers, parishes.
Almost all the children and parents in these families have been identified as suffering from moderate to severe malnutrition, non-attendance or school dropout, school lag, due to the situation of lack in which they subsist. Likewise, these families are characterized by being single-parent and extended families made up of mothers, grandmothers, granddaughters, grandsons, grandsons and nephews, whose average number of members ranges from 4 to 9 people, most of whom are children and adolescents. Housing conditions are characterized by precariousness and overcrowding. The income is generated only by the person responsible for the family and does not allow them to cover the costs of renting housing.
Attention was given from the area of psychology to make a life plan so that they can be beneficiaries with determination.
We reached 150 families through the provision of benefits (food subsidies, school supplies, health, training). 75 families were trained in baking, chocolate making and basic hairdressing, as a way to support them and allow them to enter new sustainable work spaces to improve the family situation by strengthening and enhancing their skills, reinforcing personal and spiritual values with self-determination.
From the social area, savings are made with families that have economic income and prioritization of important expenses so that with what they save they can achieve their goals and are able to improve their situation and have order in their multipurpose rooms.
In 2023, 148 families were assisted, reaching a total of 860 members.
